About us

Breaking Barriers. Raising Standards.

We built CSBD to prove excellence isn’t defined by size — but by discipline, integrity, and execution.

Our Mission

We believe excellence and access are not mutually exclusive. By building pathways for emerging BIPOC architects and engineers, we strengthen our profession — and deliver deeper perspective, stronger teams, and better outcomes for our clients.

Breaking Barriers

Representation Matters

We bring perspectives often missing in AEC. Our leadership reflects the communities we serve, and that shows up in the spaces we design.

Excellence Without Exception

We hold ourselves to the highest standards because we know BIPOC professionals are often held to higher ones. Our work speaks for itself.

Ownership & Accountability

We step up when things get difficult. We don't disappear, make excuses, or hand off problems. When you work with us, principals stay involved from start to finish.

Community First

We design for people, their stories, and their futures. Every project is an opportunity to strengthen the communities we serve.

Breaking Barriers

We're committed to creating pathways for emerging BIPOC architects and engineers. Our success creates opportunities for the next generation.

OUR STORY

Founded on Conviction. Built on Excellence.

Today, CSBD is headquartered in Nashville with a satellite office in Georgia. We're licensed in multiple states and growing—but we've never lost sight of why we started. Every project, every partnership, every hire reflects our founding commitment to excellence, equity, and opportunity.

In 2018, nine college students from Tennessee State University came together to form a design company. What started as friendship turned into business partnership. We wanted to create our own destiny, design our own projects, become entrepreneurs, and build a culturally aware firm where designers of color could feel safe and reach their full potential.

Build Your Career Here

At CSBD, you're not just filling a seat—you're building something. We offer direct mentorship from principals, real ownership of your projects, and a culture that values your voice. We're looking for architects and engineers who want more than a job: people who care about the work, take pride in craftsmanship, and believe design can make a difference.

GIVING BACK

Designing for Impact Beyond the Building

We believe architecture should create economic empowerment, not just beautiful spaces. That's why we prioritize projects that improve access, opportunity, safety, and dignity for underserved communities. From mentoring emerging BIPOC professionals to designing public facilities that serve everyone, we're committed to using our work as a tool for lasting change.
